Club Identity: Spanish Style

Spanish-style soccer, or “Positional Play”, is characterized by a focus on possession-based football, technical skill, and intricate passing. Our emphasis is in maintaining control of the ball, with players displaying high levels of technical proficiency and creativity. This style often involves quick, short passes, and players are encouraged to keep possession rather than resorting to long balls. It also emphasizes intelligent movement off the ball and a commitment to attacking football. Originating from the teachings of Dutch coach Rinus Michels and further developed by Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola, Positional Play has become a prominent philosophy embraced by many top-level clubs and coaches worldwide. This is our style of play at Fortress. Read more here.
